Arizona Republicans Select Nominee for Governor and Other Offices in Tuesday Primary

Arizona voters will choose a Republican nominee for governor on Tuesday to face Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs in November. The primary also determines nominees for competitive U.S. House seats and for all 30 state Senate and 60 state House seats.

Five-term U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs holds an endorsement from President Trump. Eight-term U.S. Rep. David Schweikert is running for governor after giving up his seat in a competitive swing district. Businessmen Ken Miceli and Scott Neely, both with backgrounds in the construction industry, are also on the Republican ballot.

Trump had previously endorsed billionaire housing developer Karrin Taylor Robson, who dropped out in February.

In the race to replace Schweikert in the 1st Congressional District, the Republican field includes state Rep. Joseph Chaplik, sportscaster and former Arizona Cardinals placekicker Jay Feely, and technology and telecommunications executive John Trobough.

Trump endorsed Feely after Feely switched districts. The Democratic primary features former state Rep. Amish Shah, who won the nomination in 2024 and received 48 percent against Schweikert in the general, and former local news anchor Marlene Galán-Woods.

Rep. Juan Ciscomani seeks a third term in the 6th Congressional District and faces Marine Corps veteran JoAnna Mendoza in November. Republicans hold slim majorities in both chambers of the state legislature. m. m. ET in almost all of the state. m. ET.

As of Thursday, about 755,000 ballots had already been cast, roughly 335,000 from Democrats and 347,000 from Republicans. Maricopa County contributed about 61 percent of the vote in the 2024 presidential general election.
