An 18-year-old Arizona man was arrested after allegedly shooting his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend and two other people outside a home in Buckeye on Thursday evening. Michael Sanchez was taken into custody at a residence in Avondale, about 18 miles from the shooting location, the Buckeye Police Department said. He faces two counts of first-degree murder and other charges.

M.

Rylee Montgomery, 16, and her unborn child died at the scene. A 17-year-old girl who was also pregnant and a 22-year-old woman were taken to a hospital in critical condition. One victim was shot at least three times and the pregnant teenager was struck in the back, according to police. The 17-year-old later delivered a baby boy at 25 weeks.

Montgomery’s stepmother, Amy, wrote on a GoFundMe page that Sanchez became violent after Montgomery became pregnant in February. She said Sanchez repeatedly told Montgomery to “kill the baby” and threatened her after she refused. Amy stated that Montgomery broke up with Sanchez in March.

” Montgomery reported the threats to police, but authorities said there was not enough evidence to file charges, Amy told AZ Family.

Sanchez was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the shooting.

Court records show he had been placed on felony probation in March following a DUI conviction. He is scheduled to appear in court next week.
