Arlington Police Arrest Man on Sexual Battery Charge
Arlington County police arrested a 25-year-old man on May 25 after a reported May 22 incident in a parking garage stairwell. The man had been the subject of an immigration detainer issued by ICE in April 2025.

Police said the victim reported that the suspect spoke to her before touching her inappropriately, after which she sought help and the suspect fled.
The Arlington County Police Department charged Vasquez-Sanchez with sexual battery and attempted object sexual penetration. He is being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Facility.
Enforcement stated that it lodged a detainer against Vasquez-Sanchez in April 2025. The agency said the individual was released due to local policies limiting cooperation with federal immigration authorities. DHS Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis told 7News that Vasquez-Sanchez had previously faced charges including rape, sexual assault, property damage, drug possession, and larceny.
ICE issued a new detainer after the latest arrest.
Court documents list a July 9 hearing for the current charges. Police are asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact the department. DHS issued a statement on X noting that Virginia ended cooperation agreements with ICE in February. The agency said it would continue enforcement actions.
