He faced accusations of rape, sexual misconduct and cannibalism in 2021, which he denied. A Puck News report claimed Hammer was unaware of how inflammatory the film would be. A source in Hammer's camp told Puck's Kim Masters that Hammer cried the first time he saw it and said, "F*.
The same source said Hammer knew the film leaned right but was surprised by the final product. Uwe Boll stated in an email to The Independent that Hammer enjoyed the shoot and the project, watched the film in the editing room and various times after, and received a 50-page script when first approached.
Boll added that everything shot was in the script and the idea that Hammer was surprised is absurd.
