Arsenal Midfielder Calls for Improved Performance Ahead of Match Against Manchester City

Arsenal secured a 1-0 win in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final against Sporting and followed with a 0-0 draw in the second leg, advancing to face Atlético Madrid in the semi-finals.

He highlighted defensive improvements in the second leg against Sporting but acknowledged ongoing difficulties with ball control and passing accuracy during a five-match stretch.

He emphasized the need for better basics, including shorter passes and increased confidence on the ball, ahead of the match against Manchester City, which he described as a significant challenge. The midfielder also referenced the motivation drawn from the recent Carabao Cup final defeat, where Arsenal players remained on the pitch to watch Manchester City lift the trophy.

He said the team recognizes the importance of the remaining six league games and the opportunity to make a statement with a win.

Arsenal has scored three goals in the past five matches, a statistic the midfielder attributed partly to facing defensive formations such as 5-3-2 and 5-4-1 setups. He noted that breaking down such defenses is challenging, especially against top-level opponents, but considered progressing in the Champions League a positive outcome.
