Foreign ministers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and its dialogue partners will meet in Manila from July 20 to 24, Rappler reported. The Philippines serves as ASEAN chair for 2026. The week opens with ASEAN foreign ministers meeting the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights and holding an informal session on the Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar.
The ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting takes place on July 21. ASEAN foreign ministers will meet counterparts from India, the United States, Canada, South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, and China on July 22. A trilateral meeting with Turkey is also scheduled that day.
Events marking the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation close the week on July 24. Confirmed attendees include Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters, Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Myanmar’s permanent secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will represent the country. ASEAN leaders barred junta leaders from high-level meetings after the 2021 military takeover. The 49th ASEAN Summit is set for Manila in November 2026.
