Ashleigh Gardner's Marriage Ends After Ex-Wife Alleges Affair With Teammate

She followed with the statement “Nah this s–t is too vague. I’ll tell you exactly what happened,” and claimed the affair occurred during the Women’s World Cup in India last year. Ashleigh Gardner and Monica Wright were married for a few months.

They have removed photos of their wedding and engagement from their Instagram accounts. A source told The Daily Mail that Gardner left one day, and when Wright returned home everything belonging to Gardner was gone except the rings, which were left in the cupboard in their box. The couple are no longer living together and their property is empty.

Cricket Australia has not commented on the situation, though senior officials have reportedly been aware of allegations of an affair for some time. Gardner, 29, made her debut for the Australian team in 2017 and serves as vice-captain to Sophie Molineux, who became captain after Alyssa Healy’s retirement in March.

She was part of the side that defeated England in the T20 World Cup final at Lord’s this month to claim a record seventh title.
