The game was developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft. The protagonist, Edward Kenway, is shipwrecked with a man named Walpole who is revealed to be a Templar.
Edward assumes Walpole's identity to secure a bounty. The game has received a Metacritic review score, allowing direct comparison to the original release.
