Astros Option Meyers and Loperfido, Recall Dezenzo and Reinstate Wade

The Houston Astros optioned outfielders Jake Meyers and Joey Loperfido to Triple-A Sugar Land before Saturday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The team also recalled outfielder/infielder Zach Dezenzo from Triple-A and reinstated infielder/outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. from the injured list.
206. 250 slash line since June 2 and started just three of the Astros' previous ten games. ESPN reported that Meyers, a 2024 Gold Glove finalist and the club's third-longest-tenured position player, understood the move.
Wade went 4-for-12 with one home run in four games after signing as a free agent on June 4 before landing on the injured list with a right hamstring strain on June 9. 191 in 21 games with Houston earlier this season before his June 5 optioning.
"He's helped us to win a lot of games, helped us win a lot of postseason games," Houston manager Joe Espada said. "He's part of this organization's success, but he understood it. " Espada added that the club wanted to see if Wade and Dezenzo could provide a spark.
The Astros entered Saturday three games behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West at 43-47.
