Athletics Defeat Yankees 6-4 Behind Three Home Runs

The Athletics defeated the New York Yankees 6-4 on Saturday night in West Sacramento, Calif. Shea Langeliers and Nick Kurtz each hit two-run home runs, and Tyler Soderstrom added a solo home run. The victory ended a four-game losing streak for the Athletics.

It also marked the first win by an Athletics starting pitcher since May 15, 2026. T. Ginn pitched six innings, allowed one unearned run, and improved to a 3-3 record. The Yankees had won five straight games before the contest and outscored opponents by 30 runs during that streak.

Ginn held them to a single run in the fourth inning. Langeliers hit his two-run home run off Ryan Weathers in the first inning. Soderstrom hit his solo home run in the sixth inning. Kurtz hit his 10th home run of the season in the seventh inning to give the Athletics a 5-1 lead.

Weathers struck out 10 batters over 6 2/3 innings but fell to 2-3. com reported that Weathers is winless in his last four starts and has the third-lowest run support of any qualified pitcher this season. The Yankees scored their only run in the fourth inning.

Jazz Chisholm stole second base with Cody Bellinger on third. A throw to second base hit off Alika Williams’ glove for an error, allowing Bellinger to score. In the same inning, Tyler Soderstrom challenged a 2-0 pitch that home plate umpire Adam Beck ruled a strike.

8 inches low. Soderstrom later drew a walk on the at-bat. Scott Barlow recorded his second save of the season. He walked the first three batters he faced in the ninth inning, forcing in three runs, then retired Jazz Chisholm with the bases loaded.

The Athletics’ starting pitchers had not earned a win since May 15, 2026, prior to Ginn’s outing. Nick Kurtz has hit 10 home runs this season. 55 ERA, is scheduled to start the series finale for the Yankees.
