August 2026 Supplemental Security Income payments will reach recipients on July 31, Washington Examiner reported. The payments normally arrive on the first day of each month, but shift to the prior business day when that date lands on a weekend or federal holiday. August 1, 2026, falls on a Saturday.
Washington Examiner reported that the maximum August payment reaches $994 for an individual. A couple filing jointly can receive up to $1,491, while an essential care provider to an SSI recipient can receive up to $498. The amounts vary based on filing status and other factors.
The program supports people who are blind, age 65 or older, or have a qualifying disability and limited income, Washington Examiner reported. Recipients must be U.S. citizens or noncitizens in an approved alien classification from the Department of Homeland Security.
They must also reside in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands and must not be absent from the United States for a full calendar month or 30 consecutive days. A full payment calendar is available on the Social Security Administration website, Washington Examiner reported.
