Aurora Innovation Partners With McLane for Driverless Freight Deliveries in Texas

Aurora Innovation and McLane will launch driverless freight operations in Texas to handle restaurant supply deliveries. The companies said the service will use Aurora's autonomous driving technology after the partners accumulated 280,000 miles of autonomous miles.

The partnership focuses on moving goods without human drivers in the cab for portions of the route. McLane, a major distributor of restaurant supplies, will integrate the autonomous trucks into its existing logistics network in the state. Aurora Innovation has developed self-driving systems primarily for commercial trucking applications.

The company has conducted extensive testing to prepare the technology for commercial deployment in supply chain routes.

The driverless freight launch will begin in Texas, one of the states where Aurora has conducted significant testing of its autonomous trucks. The companies plan to use the accumulated autonomous miles to support safe and efficient delivery operations for restaurant supply chains.

This marks a step toward broader adoption of autonomous vehicles in logistics. The partnership aims to demonstrate how driverless technology can be applied to regular commercial freight movements.
