Australia's team won the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix on Sunday after overtaking in the final meters. Emirates Great Britain finished second and Rockwell Canada placed third. The race took place for the fourth time in New York Harbor in front of the Statue of Liberty. Spectators watched from grandstands and an invitation-only lounge on Governors Island.

A three-boat collision occurred during the third fleet race before the final. The United States boat struck the Italian boat, and the Brazilian boat hit seconds later. No injuries were reported, though the catamarans sustained serious damage. The series uses identical F50 hydrofoiling catamarans that reach speeds of 60 mph.

Thirteen national teams compete across 13 locations for a $12.8 million purse.

Organizers have less than three weeks to repair and transport the damaged boats. The next event, the Canada Sail Grand Prix, begins June 20 in Halifax. The series was created in 2018 and has added luxury brand partnerships at the league and team levels.
