Australian cyclist finishes third at Giro d'Italia
Jai Hindley placed third overall in the Giro d'Italia. Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard won the race, completing victories in all three Grand Tours.

Australian Jai Hindley finished third in the Giro d'Italia cycling race that concluded in Rome. The result marks his third career podium finish in Grand Tours, all at the Giro d'Italia. Hindley won the Giro d'Italia in 2022 and finished second in 2021. He said he had been ill during the second week and took antibiotics before recovering to move into third place on the 19th of the 21 stages.
Final stage and overall results The final stage ended with a sprint won by an Italian rider. Hindley finished the race 6 minutes and 25 seconds behind the overall winner and 1 minute 3 seconds behind the second-place rider. Hindley said recovering a podium position after a long period without a strong Grand Tour result was satisfying.
He described the Grand Tours as the pinnacle of the sport. Vingegaard won the Giro d'Italia after previously winning the Tour de France in 2022 and 2023 and the Vuelta a Espana in 2025. Four Australian riders finished in the top 17 overall.
