Australian dwelling values fell 0.4 percent in June while Shadow Minister cites migration and building shortfalls
Shadow Housing Minister Andrew Bragg said he supports lower house prices if they improve affordability for young buyers. Opposition Leader Angus Taylor said Australia faces an economic crisis and that he would not meet far-right podcaster Tommy Robinson.

Dwelling values fell 0.4 percent nationally in June 2026, according to property data firm Cotality. Sydney values declined 1.2 percent while Melbourne values fell 1 percent. Shadow Housing Minister Andrew Bragg said he backs the decline if it improves affordability for young people.
"If it improves affordability it will help young people, but the fundamentals haven't changed and that is that the migration program is too strong and the house building program is too weak," Bragg told Channel Nine. Opposition Leader Angus Taylor said he would not travel to the UK or meet with Tommy Robinson, whom One Nation leader Pauline Hanson met during a trip there.
"I wouldn't be spending time over in the UK and I certainly wouldn't be meeting with Tommy Robinson right now," Taylor said.
He added that Australia has an economic crisis. Australians lodged more than 2,000 complaints about sexual extortion between July 1 and December 31 2025, the eSafety Commissioner reported. Men aged 18 to 24 were the most common victims.
The commissioner identified serious gaps in how online platforms detect and address sextortion despite receiving details of known coercion methods.
