Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke said on 13 July 2026 that authorities know the location of Sydney woman Hodan Abby and will use legal tools to bar 13 suspected ISIS fighters from returning. A Resolve poll showed One Nation support fell three points.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke stated on 13 July 2026 that Australian security agencies know the location of Sydney woman Hodan Abby, who is subject to a temporary exclusion order. Abc reported that Abby served as an enforcer of Sharia law in a Syrian camp and allegedly enslaved a Yazidi girl aged nine or ten who was sold to her family.
Burke told ABC News Breakfast that agencies continue to build evidence against her.
He said she may be weighing whether to return after seeing others arrested on arrival at the airport. Burke also said he will not lift a finger to support 13 Australian men suspected of being ISIS fighters held in a Baghdad prison. He stated he will use any legal instrument available, including temporary exclusion orders, to keep the men out of Australia.
A Resolve poll of just over 2,200 people showed One Nation support fell three points. The same poll showed Pauline Hanson's popularity dropped eight points to 25 per cent. One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce said he stood by Hanson's comments on monoculture and paid parental leave.
He said changes are always expected in polls and that social cohesion requires substantive statements.
