An Australian payments company has been named in reports examining a £1 million transfer to a fundraising vehicle supporting Nigel Farage and Reform UK before the 2024 UK general election. The company, Oneify, was identified as the digital finance platform that moved the funds, according to an investigation by The Guardian. The payment originated from an account linked to Fiona Cottrell.
Police investigation Police confirmed they began inquiries in early 2025 into donations transferred ahead of the 2024 election. The statement said early investigative advice has been sought from the Crown Prosecution Service and two people have been interviewed under caution.
No arrests have been made. There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by Oneify, which was established in 2016 and is based in Wollongong.
Background on the transfers The Guardian reported that the £1 million was sent in June 2024 to Britain Means Business. One of its directors transferred £500,000 in two tranches to Reform UK on 10 and 12 June. Separately, The Times reported that police are investigating at least £500,000 in donations from Fiona Cottrell to Reform.
Farage has stated he has done nothing wrong and has not broken the law. The use of cryptocurrency for political donations has drawn scrutiny in Britain, particularly regarding investors linked to Reform UK.
