Australian Prime Minister Apologizes for Podcast Remarks on Kylie Minogue

Australia’s Prime Minister apologized unequivocally on Monday for comments made during a July 3 podcast appearance. The remarks came while the leader answered a recurring question from host Nikki Osborne about which Australian entertainer he would “shag, marry, date.” The options presented were Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman, and Rhonda Burchmore.

The Prime Minister initially referenced his November 2025 marriage before selecting Minogue when pressed. He then confirmed the full set of options when the host clarified the question. The exchange drew criticism from several opposition senators. One described the remarks as whisky-fueled and disrespectful to women. Another called the comments a poor error in judgment that demeaned the office.

The cabinet currently includes 12 women and 11 men. The social services minister said the comments simply reflected admiration for Minogue shared by millions of Australians. Minogue has not commented publicly on the matter as of Monday.
