Author’s Footnote Reveals Publisher Rejected Use of Personal Photos in 2020 Boys’ Puberty Book

Morris Katz, 27, included a footnote on page 17 of his 2020 book stating that he and his publisher considered using images of his own penis to illustrate puberty changes before settling on fruit and animal metaphors. The 112-page volume, titled “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Puberty—and Shouldn’t Be Googling: For Curious Boys,” is listed by Amazon as aimed at boys ages 10-12.

” It continues: “Is your penis actually going to become an animal or fruit?

No. Probably not. What will happen during puberty is your penis will develop and transform. ” The book uses oranges, snakes and butterflies as metaphors for the effect of puberty hormones on male genitalia between ages 11 and 14.
