Hyundai, Kia, and other manufacturers have discontinued or postponed U.S. sales of multiple electric vehicle models this year. The changes follow the end of a federal tax credit and declining EV deliveries.
Several automakers have removed or postponed electric vehicle models from the U.S. market in 2026. The moves follow the September 2025 expiration of a federal tax credit for U.S.-made EVs and a drop in battery-powered vehicle deliveries. In the first quarter of 2026, EV deliveries fell 27 percent compared with the same period a year earlier, according to Cox Automotive data.
That decline followed a 46 percent drop in EV sales during the final quarter of 2025.
The company sold 229 units of the model in February. It will continue to import a limited number of higher-performance Ioniq 6 N versions. Hyundai also said it will not ship the 2026 Kona Electric to U.S. dealers. The model could return for the 2027 model year.
Kia discontinued the Niro EV in the United States, according to InsideEVs. The vehicle was imported from South Korea and faced added costs from U.S. automotive tariffs.
