Avila Chevalier Defeats Incumbent Espaillat in New York’s 13th District Democratic Primary

Darializa Avila Chevalier won the Democratic primary for New York's 13th Congressional District on Tuesday. She received 49.4% of the vote against Rep. Adriano Espaillat, who received 45.9%. Espaillat chairs the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

Avila Chevalier has said she is not OK with any deportation and believes all deportation is wrong. She has described the United States as occupied native land and called America a f---ing disgrace. Her campaign platform includes abolishing ICE, Medicare for All, Housing for All and a Babies, not Bombs agenda.

She has voiced support for abolishing the police, borders and prisons and for seizing property from landlords. Bill Maher discussed Avila Chevalier on the June 26 episode of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher. He said the New York Times asked her if someone who murders someone randomly should go to jail and could not get her to say yes.

Maher called her patient zero of the woke mind virus. He also said she plans to kneel during the congressional oath of office. Avila Chevalier stated that the fact a murder happened is tragic and that circumstances allowing it reflect systems that made it possible.

Maher said she states there should be no more police ever, that veterans are war criminals and that f--k Kamala Harris and Joe Biden's a rapist. Maher told Vice President JD Vance that if the Democratic Party continues its current direction his vote is in play. He said he has always concluded the Democrat was probably better and voted for them.

Maher also told Vance that President Trump's general denial that U.S. elections are fair is a dealbreaker for him.
