UCLA Men's Basketball Team Secures Commitment from Texas Tech Transfer Jaylen Petty

The UCLA men's basketball team announced the commitment of guard Jaylen Petty from Texas Tech on Sunday. Petty, a 6-foot-1 freshman last season, brings multiple years of eligibility to the program. This addition addresses needs in the backcourt following the departure of several guards.

Petty played in 33 games for Texas Tech, starting 22 of them. 2 assists per game. 5% from three-point range during his debut college season. A Seattle native, Petty was rated as a four-star high school prospect.

He operated as a combo guard during his time with the Red Raiders. His skills are expected to complement the existing roster.

Building Through the Transfer Portal This commitment is the third transfer for UCLA this offseason.

The team previously added forwards with multiple seasons of eligibility remaining. The strategy focuses on young players who can develop over several years. UCLA is projected to feature Petty as a starter alongside point guard Trent Perry.
