Authorities in the Bahamas are searching for Lynette Hooker, a 55-year-old woman from Michigan, who disappeared while boating with her husband. The incident occurred on the night of April 4, 2026, when the couple was returning to their yacht in a small dinghy. Brian Hooker, 59, reported to authorities that his wife fell overboard during the trip.
Brian Hooker was taken into custody on April 8, 2026, four days after the reported incident. He has been questioned by police, including a session lasting more than three hours on Friday at Grand Bahama’s Central Police Station. He is scheduled for another interview on Monday, April 13.

" The initial rescue mission began after the report but was called off on April 8 due to bad weather, which also hampered efforts. A flotation device believed to have been thrown to Lynette was found last week. The operation has now transitioned to a recovery mission for her body, which remains missing as of April 13.
Searches continue by air, land, and sea, involving the Royal Bahamas Defense Force.
Hooker's stepdaughter, Karli Aylesworth, has expressed doubt about Brian Hooker's account.
" She also referenced past incidents, accusing Brian Hooker of previously choking Lynette and threatening to throw her overboard. Court records from Michigan show that Brian Hooker was acquitted of child abuse charges in 2006. Lynette Hooker was arrested in 2015 on charges of assault and battery/simple assault, but the warrant was denied due to insufficient evidence regarding who initiated the assault.
