Barcelona agrees deals for Joao Cancelo from Al-Hilal and Anthony Gordon from Newcastle

FC Barcelona is expected to sign Joao Cancelo for its first team within the next few days. Forbes reported that the club has reached a transfer agreement with Al-Hilal covering two seasons at a fee of approximately $11.4 million in fixed money and variables.

Negotiations are described as very advanced, with only minor tax issues from Cancelo’s previous loan spell at the club remaining to be resolved.

Cancelo spent nearly six months on loan at Barcelona during the winter of 2026. Joan Laporta’s relationship with agent Jorge Mendes facilitated the move. Cancelo played under Hansi Flick during that loan and became a revelation, pushing Alejandro Balde out of the starting lineup.

The club has already agreed to pay Newcastle United $80 million for the transfer of Anthony Gordon.
