agriculture.einnews.comThe Sunday Times Rich List published its annual ranking of the UK's 350 richest individuals and families. The list estimates Sir David and Lady Beckham's collective wealth at £1.1bn after the couple doubled their fortune in the last 12 months. This makes Sir David Beckham the first billionaire sportsman in the UK.
Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher entered the list for the first time with an estimated £375m. The list is calculated using the paper's estimates of minimum wealth based on identifiable assets including land, property, art, racehorses and significant shares in publicly quoted companies.
The Hinduja brothers top the list for the fifth consecutive year with a combined fortune of £38bn. There are now 157 UK billionaires on the list, which is 20 fewer than four years ago.
Charles's estimated wealth rose by £40m to £680m, placing the monarch at number 230. This positions him ahead of former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, who have an estimated worth of £563m. Inventor Sir James Dyson saw the largest decline, with wealth falling by £8.8bn to £12bn.
Manchester United part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's fortune decreased from £17bn to £15.19bn. The Sunday Times attributed part of the revenue decline for Dyson's companies to U.S. tariffs introduced by President Donald Trump. Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis and her family entered the list with an estimated £400m.
Entrepreneur Christopher Harborne debuted in sixth place with £18.1bn. The British billionaire made records for political donations to Reform UK and gave £5m to Nigel Farage in 2024.
At least 15 foreign nationals from last year's list were removed because they now live elsewhere. Nearly a third of the UK citizens featured no longer live on the British mainland. The compiler of the list described this year's edition as "a tale of two exoduses."
“One in six of the individuals and families who appeared on the list two years ago don't feature this time. Many foreign billionaires who have been living in the UK have also dropped out because they have moved away. We have also seen a sharp rise in the number of British nationals now resident in Dubai, Switzerland and Monaco.”
Well-known names appearing on the list include Sir Elton John, Lord Lloyd-Webber, Sir Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, JK Rowling, Charlotte Tilbury, Sir Brian May and Sir Lewis Hamilton. The separate 40 under 40 list is topped by the Duke and Duchess of Westminster with an estimated £9.7bn fortune.
Thirty-four of its entrants have self-made fortunes, with nearly a third linked to London-based AI start-ups.
