Beekeeper's Naturals Recalls One Lot of Saline Nasal Spray After Yeast and Mold Test Results
The company voluntarily recalled Lot No. 5950 after testing showed microbial levels above limits. About 585 units sold on Amazon between April 2 and April 24 are affected.
The HillBeekeeper's Naturals announced on June 11 a voluntary recall of Lot No. 5950 of its Saline Nasal Spray after testing found microbial levels above acceptable limits for yeast and possible mold contamination. The recalled lot was shipped to Amazon before test results were received due to a clerical error.
Approximately 585 units of the lot were sold through the platform between April 2 and April 24. The product is packaged in a 1-ounce bottle and expires in February 2028. The company has worked with Amazon to notify purchasers of the affected lot.
Exposure to the mold Aspergillus can cause serious and life-threatening infections, including invasive sinusitis and lung infections, in people with weakened immune systems or lung disease, the company said. Beekeeper's Naturals has received four reports of adverse reactions potentially linked to the product, including sinus congestion, irritation, and infection.
No other Beekeeper's Naturals products, including Nasal Spray Max, are impacted by the recall, the company stated.
The recall was also reported by NewsNation.
