An empty home in Behchokǫ̀ sustained damage in a fire early Sunday. The RCMP responded at 5:19 a.m. and transferred the investigation to the Office of the Fire Marshal.
An empty home in Behchokǫ̀ was damaged in a fire early Sunday morning. m. and attended the scene with the local fire department. T. RCMP said the house was empty at the time and no injuries were reported. The fire is not considered suspicious, the RCMP stated in an email to CBC News.
The investigation has been transferred to the territorial government’s Office of the Fire Marshal. CBC has contacted the fire marshal for comment.
This marks the second residential fire in the community in five months. T. housing minister said 135 families were on the community’s waiting list in February 2025.
