Beijing Officials Meet CLP Holdings Chairman on Hong Kong Electricity Supply

South China Morning PostBeijing's top official on Hong Kong affairs met with the chairman of CLP Holdings and his team to discuss energy matters, followed by a separate session with a senior energy administrator. Xia Baolong, director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, spoke with Michael Kadoorie, Philip Kadoorie, and senior management of CLP Power in Beijing on Wednesday, the South China Morning Post reported.
Michael Kadoorie and his team then met with He Yang, deputy director of the National Energy Administration, on Thursday, according to the South China Morning Post.
The meeting with He Yang focused on ensuring a secure electricity supply amid a complex international situation, the South China Morning Post reported. It also emphasized alignment with the energy blueprint in the 15th national five-year plan covering 2026 to 2030, as detailed in the report.
He Yang stated that mainland China has made efforts to ensure a sufficient electricity supply and stable oil and gas prices despite geopolitical tensions, the South China Morning Post reported.
“The National Energy Administration will continue to support CLP Power in ensuring a secure and reliable electricity supply for Hong Kong,” He Yang said, according to the South China Morning Post. Xia Baolong serves as Beijing’s point man on Hong Kong affairs. Michael Kadoorie is the chairman of CLP Holdings.
CLP Power is an energy firm operating in Hong Kong.
