Belfast Stabbing Victim Lost Left Eye, Court Hears
A 40-year-old NHS radiographer suffered the loss of his left eye and deep cuts during a Monday night knife attack in Belfast. A 30-year-old Sudanese national has been charged with attempted murder and remanded in custody.
nypost.comA Belfast court heard that the victim of Monday night's stabbing lost his left eye and sustained deep cuts to his head, face and back. Stephen Ogilvie, an NHS radiographer in his 40s, was attacked on Kinnaird Avenue. Police arrived at 10:30 p.m. and removed the suspect from on top of the victim.
Hadi Alodid, 30, of Duncairn Avenue, appeared via video link at Belfast Magistrates' Court with an Arabic interpreter. He faces charges of attempted murder, threats to kill and possession of a blade. " The detective said police found Alodid armed with a knife at the scene.
The judge refused bail, citing the seriousness of the offence, risk of reoffending, risk to the public, risk of public disorder and risk of flight. Alodid did not respond when asked about legal representation. The judge warned that anyone involved in rioting or calls to close streets could expect prison sentences.
