Belgium is moving closer to allowing Tesla FSD (Supervised) testing on public roads in Flanders. Flemish mobility minister Annick De Ridder said testing of Tesla’s FSD system on Flemish roads could begin within days as regulators review Tesla’s documentation. The vehicle will be tested over roughly 3,000 miles.

The test will evaluate any differences with Dutch road infrastructure and traffic rules, De Ridder stated. If the results are positive, work can be done quickly on a provisional European type-approval that is valid on the entire Belgian territory," the minister said.

Testing would occur on Flemish roads. The Netherlands recently became the first EU country to approve Tesla FSD (Supervised).

@SawyerMerritt reported that this development positions Belgium as a potential second EU member to greenlight supervised use of the system on public roads. Annick De Ridder, the Flemish mobility minister, has signaled confidence that the review process will move swiftly. Regulators are reviewing Tesla’s documentation in preparation for the trial.

The planned testing follows the Dutch approval and aims to determine how Tesla’s FSD performs under Belgian conditions that may diverge from those in the Netherlands. Positive outcomes could accelerate broader regulatory acceptance across Belgium.
