BET Forms First Board of Advisors to Guide Brand Expansion
The media group announced a new advisory board of celebrities and executives. The board will advise on strategy and culture as BET develops content across multiple platforms.
BET announced Tuesday the formation of its first board of advisors. The group will serve as a strategic and cultural sounding board for the brand. The board includes BET founder Bob Johnson, musician and actress Queen Latifah, musical artist and actor LL Cool J, NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent, Lazard president Raymond J.
McGuire, and Paramount chair of TV media George Cheeks.
BET president Louis Carr stated the board will help the brand honor its responsibility to the community while building what comes next. The announcement follows the parent company's decision not to sell BET and its purchase of Tyler Perry's stake in BET+.
BET operates a basic cable channel, FAST channels, studios, live events, and digital content. The brand has also partnered with aTwist to develop microdramas. "BET has always been more than a platform. It is a cultural institution with a responsibility to serve, reflect, and advance our community," Carr said in a statement.
