A table stocked with Bibles, miniature Jesus figures and bracelets was placed near the Wylie East High School parking lot before classes began on Tuesday. ” Organizers said the display responded to a February table at the school that distributed Qurans and pamphlets about Sharia law and hijabs.

Local radio host Chris Krok organized the Tuesday event after listeners suggested handing out Bibles. He said the idea developed over several weeks. Wylie East student Marco Hunter-Lopez and his father assisted Krok.

Superintendent Kim Spicer stated in an email to parents that the February materials were not reviewed or approved in advance. The district called the distribution a violation of board policy and placed one staff member on leave; the employee has since returned to work.

Principal Tiffany Doolan told parents that mistakes occurred on her watch and that she would learn from the episode. The district said the four women who staffed the February table followed visitor procedures but staff did not confirm that a required guest-speaker form had been submitted.

” He told the panel he had received threatening messages after speaking out about the February table. Krok said the Tuesday distribution would follow district rules by remaining off school property. Several participants said they attended to share their faith rather than to protest.
