Those topics include leading the country through COVID, rebuilding the economy, restoring democracy after the January 6 attack, ending the war in Afghanistan, strengthening NATO and supporting Ukraine.
Biden also said the book addresses why he chose to run for reelection and why he chose to step aside.
He added that it centers on his faith in the promise of America, including honoring past sacrifices, treating people with dignity and respect, and remaining a beacon to the world. Biden stated that since leaving the presidency he has spent time with family while dealing with a cancer diagnosis. He said treatment has been going well and thanked those who offered prayers and support.
The title references his 2017 memoir Promise Me, Dad. Biden had previously said he would release his memoirs before the 2026 midterm elections. The New York Times reported that the announcement occurred on July 15, 2026.
Euronews reported that Biden plans to tour and give interviews for the book and that he will turn 84 three days after publication.
