Big 12 Teams See Multiple Quarterback Transfers and Coaching Changes After Spring Practice

Spring practice concluded across the country before teams entered full recruiting mode for the summer, CBS Sports reported. Arizona State added four-star quarterback Cutter Boley from Kentucky in early January. Sources told CBS Sports that transfer Mikey Keene, who previously started 35 games at UCF and Fresno State combined and earned two-time honorable-mention All-Mountain West honors at Fresno State, is pushing Boley for the starting job.
Baylor signed DJ Lagway on January 18 after he committed on January 8. Lagway ranked second-worst among SEC quarterbacks in QB rating during his sophomore season at Florida. He will replace Sawyer Robertson, who was named to the 2025 All-Big 12 team.
BYU won 12 games in the 2025 season. NFL front-office sources rank the Cougars among the top-10 teams nationally in 2027 NFL draft-eligible prospects, with close to 10 players viewed as having a legitimate chance of being drafted next year, including at least five projected within the first three rounds.
The group includes running back LJ Martin, linebackers Cade Uluave and Glasker, safety Feletau Satuala, and cornerback Evan Johnson.
Sophomore quarterback Bear Bachmeier is not yet draft-eligible. Cincinnati’s 2025 run game ranked third nationally in yards per play. The Bearcats return three offensive-line starters: Joe Cotton, Evan Tengesdahal and Taran Tyo.
JC French transferred from Georgia Southern to replace Brendan Sorsby at quarterback. French was a two-year starter at Georgia Southern and had a strong spring, a source said. Kansas quarterbacks Cole Ballard and Isaiah Marshall received equal spring-practice reps.
Chase Jenkins, a transfer from Rice, was limited by injury during spring practice. The competition remains open heading into fall camp, a source said. Drew Mestemaker had zero prior Power Four starting experience before joining Oklahoma State.
