Black leather jacket once worn by Nvidia CEO sells for $960,000 at Sotheby's

A black leather jacket worn by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang sold at Sotheby's for $960,000. The final price far exceeded the presale estimate of $40,000 to $60,000. The jacket was authenticated by PSA as the one Huang wore at Hon Hai Tech Day in Taipei on October 18, 2023.

James Spence Authentication confirmed the signature. Auction proceeds will fund fellowships, grants, and residencies at the Edge Institute through a philanthropic initiative organized by San Francisco-based Long Journey Ventures, Sotheby's stated. The Edge Institute organizes month-long pop-up villages that bring together people in tech, science, culture, and society for experiments.

Its flagship event, Edge Esmeralda, drew more than 1,300 participants to Healdsburg, California, in 2025. Huang and his wife Lori operate the Jen-Hsun and Lori Huang Foundation, which one estimate values at more than $10 billion in assets. The foundation has made gifts including $50 million to Oregon State University and $22.5 million to the California College of the Arts.

Huang stated in a 2024 interview with HP that his wife and daughter dress him. A spokesperson for Huang told The New York Times that he has worn black leather jackets for at least 20 years.
