Blackhawks center says Kane return would strengthen team

Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard said a return by winger Patrick Kane would strengthen the team's offense and generate excitement among fans. Bedard made the comments Monday after signing a five-year, $75 million contract extension. Kane, 37, played 16 seasons with the Blackhawks before moving to the New York Rangers in 2023 and later the Detroit Red Wings.

He said a reunion would benefit the team beyond nostalgia. "I can't imagine his first game back at the [United Center], just the reaction he'd get and how much juice that would bring not only to our team but our fans as well," Bedard said.

Bedard said Chicago is the only place he wants to play and expressed satisfaction with the contract terms.
