Full-time employed people worked 8.45 hours on weekdays and 5.49 hours on weekend days. On days worked, they spent about 3 hours on leisure and sports, 1 hour on household activities, and 1 hour on eating and drinking.
People with at least a bachelor's degree spent fewer hours working than those with other educational attainments. Women spent more time than men on housework, food preparation, and caring for children. Men spent more time on lawn and garden care, working, and sports, exercise, and recreation.
Teens devoted more time per day to educational activities than other age groups, while people in their mid-60s and older spent more time on household activities. Hours spent alone rose with age. Unemployed people averaged 7.11 waking hours alone per day, while employed people averaged 6.63 hours.
