A boat capsized in San Francisco Bay between the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island, leaving at least one person dead and three others missing, New York Post reported. Emergency crews arrived on scene for a large-scale rescue operation. Video showed responders assisting people in the water.
An ABC7 photographer on site confirmed the fatality. Seventeen people were rescued, according to CBS. Several others were taken to hospitals for treatment. The vessel is now fully submerged. New York Post reported that early accounts placed at least three additional people as missing.
The incident follows a separate sailboat capsizing earlier in the week off the San Mateo County coast that required its own rescue.
