Boeing to Open Second 737 Max Production Line in Everett
Boeing will open a fourth 737 Max final assembly line in Everett, Washington, on July 6. The move follows a production increase to 47 jets per month and aims for 52 jets monthly in 2027.
Boeing will begin building new 737 Max airplanes on July 6 at a final assembly line it is opening north of Seattle in Everett, Washington. The new line is a carbon copy of the existing line in Renton and will initially produce the 737 Max 10. The company currently produces 47 Max airplanes per month after raising output from 42 earlier in 2026.
The new Everett line is expected to help Boeing reach a production rate of 52 jets per month beginning in 2027. Production remains subject to limits set by the Federal Aviation Administration after a door plug incident on an Alaska Airlines plane in January 2024. That event led to extended reviews of safety and quality practices at Boeing.
"We're trying to reset that track record, and I think we've done a good job as we've come back up here in the last 18 months and increased rate, and we've done it differently," Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said. The company stated it is not advancing work until the production system is stable. Boeing has set a longer-term target of 63 Max jets per month if the supply chain can support the increase.
The company expects the FAA to certify the 737 Max 10 before the end of 2026.
