Bondi Praises Deputy's Handling of Epstein Files Released by Congress
Former Attorney General Pam Bondi told the House Oversight Committee she delegated oversight of the Epstein document release to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche. Democrats said she shifted responsibility for redactions and other errors onto Blanche; Bondi denied the claim and praised his work.
nypost.comFormer Attorney General Pam Bondi appeared before the House Oversight Committee on May 29, 2026, in a closed-door session examining the federal government's handling of Jeffrey Epstein files. According to Rep. Robert Garcia, Bondi told the panel she had delegated oversight of the document release and related investigations to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
Bondi rejected that characterization on social media, writing that she had praised Blanche's management of the task and described his ethics as beyond reproach. The original Daily Caller report quoted her stating she "praised" Blanche and called his handling of the files appropriate.
Congress passed legislation requiring the Justice Department to release all Epstein-related files by December 19. The department has since published millions of pages. Bondi told the committee there were redaction errors during the release but said the department remained committed to accountability and transparency.
Lawmakers also asked Bondi about conversations with President Trump and about a prison transfer involving Ghislaine Maxwell. According to Garcia, she declined to answer questions involving the president and said she had no prior knowledge of the transfer.
A transcript of the interview will be released later after review by the Department of Justice. Democrats on the committee had requested the session be filmed, but officials said it would be transcribed only.
