Aaron Levie stated that disorganized enterprise data poses the main obstacle to effective AI agent deployment. He identified excessive or conflicting information as a source of incorrect conclusions by the systems.
Box Inc. CEO Aaron Levie said the main barrier to successful AI agent use in companies is the quality and organization of internal data rather than the technology itself. On Monday, Levie posted on X that the biggest challenge is giving agents the right constrained context for each task.
He warned that too much information or conflicting sources can cause agents to reach incorrect conclusions, particularly when multiple systems of record exist.
Levie listed typical enterprise issues including outdated knowledge bases, duplicated documents, and undocumented tribal knowledge. He also noted the opposite problem, saying too little information limits the potential benefits of AI agents. Levie added that AI strategies are actually data strategy challenges in disguise.
He stated that companies must focus on how information is structured, maintained, and accessed for AI systems to function properly.
