Boy George Launches Artists Included to Offer AI Re-Recordings of Legacy Songs
The Culture Club singer’s new company released an AI-assisted version of “Karma Chameleon” on Monday. The track uses a new vocal performance processed by technology trained on his archival recordings.
foxnews.comBoy George launched Artists Included, a company that offers legacy artists AI-assisted re-recordings to reclaim ownership of their songs. ” The new recording uses AI to recreate Boy George’s 22-year-old voice while preserving a performance recorded in 2026. Boy George recorded a new vocal performance that was then processed by an AI model trained on his own archival recordings.
Boy George turned 65 on June 14, 2026. ” He added, “When I heard it, I was absolutely gobsmacked. ” A Virgin anniversary campaign licensed “Karma Chameleon” for roughly $4 million, with the money paid to the owners of the master recording and publishing rights.
Boy George received none of the $4 million licensing payment, according to his longtime manager Paul Kemsley. ” He also said the rest of Culture Club laughed when he first presented “Karma Chameleon” and that he threatened to leave the band about 30 times to get it on the album. He said he knew the song would be a Number One record before the band recorded it.
Artists Included plans to approach other heritage acts from the 1980s and 1990s whose masters are still controlled by record companies. Boy George stated he is not frightened of AI and uses it himself when writing.
