Braves Shortstop Kim Ha-seong Records Hit and Stolen Base in First Rehab Game
Atlanta Braves shortstop Kim Ha-seong went 1-for-2 with a stolen base in his initial rehab outing for Double-A Columbus. The performance marks progress in his recovery from a finger injury sustained in January. Kim could return to the majors as early as May 19, Yonhap reported.
yna.co.krAtlanta Braves shortstop Kim Ha-seong collected one hit in two at-bats and stole a base while playing five innings at shortstop during his first rehab game for Double-A Columbus on Wednesday local time, Yonhap reported. The outing represents a key step in Kim's recovery from an offseason finger injury, a torn tendon in his right middle finger suffered after slipping on ice in South Korea in January.
That injury sidelined him from spring training and prevented participation in the World Baseball Classic with South Korea.
Yonhap reported that the Braves plan to gradually increase Kim's workload during his rehab assignment. Braves manager Walt Weiss stated, 'We'll continue to ramp up the volume. A position player can remain on a rehab assignment for up to 20 days.
Barring setbacks, Kim can be activated from the injured list as early as May 19. Upon his return, Kim will take over as the Atlanta Braves' primary shortstop, moving Mauricio Dubon to the utility role. Kim, who won the 2023 National League Gold Glove at the utility spot, signed a one-year contract worth US$20 million with the Atlanta Braves in December.
He spent the latter portion of the 2025 season with the team. The Atlanta Braves entered Wednesday's action with a record of 21 wins and 9 losses, holding the best record in Major League Baseball.
