Brazil Economic Team Seeks to Block Three Bills Adding $33 Billion to Budget

Planning Minister Bruno Moretti said Brazil’s economic team is seeking to negotiate with Congress to prevent final approval of three bills that would add more than $33 billion to the nation’s budget over the next 10 years. Moretti made the statement on behalf of the economic team, which is working to keep the measures from advancing through the legislative process.

The three bills would increase federal spending by the stated amount across a decade if enacted.
