A Brazilian Supreme Court justice rejected a request for Argentine President Javier Milei to visit former President Jair Bolsonaro under house arrest. The proposed meeting was scheduled for July 25 in Brasilia. Justice Alexandre de Moraes issued the decision late on Friday.
He ruled that Bolsonaro is already barred from visits of a political-electoral nature. Milei is expected to attend a Liberal Party convention in Sao Paulo. The convention will certify a candidate for an upcoming election against incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Background on the decision The justice previously denied a similar visit request in March. That request came from a U.S. State Department official seeking to meet Bolsonaro while he was in prison.
