Brewers pitcher Quinn Priester to undergo thoracic outlet surgery

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Quinn Priester will undergo thoracic outlet decompression surgery Monday, ending his 2026 season. Priester, 25, has not pitched in the major leagues this season. Symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome appeared during spring training.

He pitched in eight minor-league games across three levels while attempting to rehab, posting a 15.75 ERA and walking 24 batters in 16 innings.

Procedure and recovery Gregory Pearl will perform the procedure Monday in Dallas.

Priester said the decision followed unsuccessful non-surgical treatments. "We've just kind of gotten to a point where these things aren't working," Priester said. "So we're going to go down on Monday and get surgery with Dr. " The surgery involves removal of a rib.

Priester said he will keep the rib and decide later what to do with it.

Background and outlook Priester went 13-3 with a 3.32 ERA in 157⅓ innings for the Brewers last season. He previously pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Boston Red Sox. Priester said medical advances give him confidence he will return stronger. He hopes to be fully recovered by spring training in 2027.

"Ten years ago this was a little bit more of a question mark," Priester said.
