A bridge spanning Douglas Lake on Interstate 40 in Eastern Tennessee opened Thursday under the new name President Donald J. Trump Bridge. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent spoke at the ceremony. "Interstate 40 begins on one coast and ends on another," Bessent said.
" The Tennessee legislature passed legislation in 2025 authorizing the renaming. The same measure also renamed a separate bridge over the Mississippi River as Kings' Crossing.
Additional renamings Palm Beach International Airport was also renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport on Thursday. The United States Institute of Peace was renamed the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace in December 2025. "There is no one more deserving of it than Donald J.
Trump," Bessent said. " Trump's sister Elizabeth Trump Grau and sister-in-law Ann Marie Trump attended the ceremony. Officials from Tennessee and members of the state's congressional delegation were also present, according to local station WVLT.
