British Man Fatally Shot in Car Park on Canouan Island

Daniel Vettrino, a 37-year-old technical services manager from Dysart in Fife, Scotland, was fatally shot multiple times in a car park on the island of Canouan in St Vincent and the Grenadines on Wednesday night, GB News reported. The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force responded to the Gym Hill area at 11.30pm.
Officers found Vettrino with multiple gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead by the district medical officer.
A post-mortem examination will determine the exact cause of death and investigations continue. GB News reported that Vettrino had returned from a day trip when the shooting occurred. Local media reports cited by GB News indicate that two men have been detained in connection with the incident.
Vettrino had moved from Scotland to Egypt in 2015 to work for an international peacekeeping organisation overseeing the Egyptian peace treaty with Israel. He relocated to Colombia in 2023 and took a role as Technical Service Manager at the Canouan Estate Resort and Villas in August 2024. ” The family is working on arrangements for his return home.
A Foreign Office spokesman said the department is supporting the family of the British national and remains in contact with local authorities.
