British No 1 Spotted in Orthopaedic Boot Days Before Wimbledon

Emma Raducanu’s participation at Wimbledon has been placed in doubt after she was seen leaving the All England Club’s practice complex wearing an orthopaedic boot on her right leg. A representative stated that Raducanu is fine and will play on Friday. She had been scheduled to train at midday Thursday but did not appear.
Raducanu reached the final at the Queen’s Club tournament two weeks ago, where she lost to Donna Vekic. She played five matches in quick succession, including quarter-final and semi-final on the same day. She skipped the following week’s event in Nottingham and declined a wildcard for this week’s tournament in Eastbourne.
After Queen’s she said she had been dealing with a few niggles over the past few weeks.
Raducanu slipped on the grass during her Queen’s quarter-final and took a medical timeout but finished the event without further visible issues. A post-viral illness kept her off court for two months after Indian Wells in March. She has twice reached the fourth round at Wimbledon, her best major result since winning the US Open in 2021.
Wimbledon begins on Monday and the draw takes place on Friday.
