A British radio station in Essex broadcast an announcement on Tuesday stating that King Charles III had died. The message said normal programming had been suspended out of respect for the monarch's passing and was followed by the national anthem. Station manager Peter Moore said a computer error at the main studio caused the erroneous announcement.

The station later posted an apology on Facebook. "Caroline has been pleased to broadcast Her Majesty the Queen's, and now the King's, Christmas message, and we hope to do so for many years to come. We apologise to HM the King and to our listeners for any distress caused," Moore stated.

The station has not reported any further technical issues or changes to its regular schedule following the incident.
